Guests I've Got A Cure For You

saudade [sou-dahd,dahj] ”

—    (noun) A Portuguese, untranslatable word romanticizing nostalgia in its purest form. This beautiful feeling captures the yearning for someone or something that you love, which is now lost. It a is melancholic longing. Saudade’s pronunciation varies according to the speaker and country, which only adds to its sincerity and vulnerability. (via spikejonzeh)

“ And if you call me at 4 am, too sad to even say hello, I will listen to your silence until you fall asleep. If you need to cry I will not wipe your tears away because you are only human and sometimes tears are as close to laughter as you can get and that’s okay. If you get sleepy I will let you drool on my arm and I won’t laugh at you if you snore too loud. If you need to yell so hard that your voice cracks and your knees fail I will hold you up and yell with you. If you get so angry you punch your hands red I will ice your knuckles and tell you that wounds heal both inside and out, and just like the cold that is harsh and burning, I will always be the warmth to soothe you and make you feel better. I will love you. ”

There is no road of flowers leading to glory. What lays there instead is persistence, hard work, hope, grit, failure, success, and heart. If you listen closely you can hear something very special. It started from nothing and fought through heartbreak and defeat to be heard. It is a collective roar of determination that echoes “never surrender.” There is nothing easy about what has been accomplished by this group of amazing players, coaches, owners, and staff. Call it a comeback, a cinderella story, a lesson in redemption. Call it what you want, I call it fucking beautiful. Thank you to Seattle Reign Football Club for an incredible season. It’s been a privilege to see you rise above. See you in 2015. Let it Reign.
